Jesus entered Jericho and He made His way through the town. There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was one of the most influential Jews in the Roman tax collecting business and had become very rich. He tried to get a look at Jesus but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree beside the road so he could watch from there. Luke 19:1-4

As Jesus passed by, He looked up at Zacchaeus and He called him by name. “Zacchaeus,” He said, “Quick! Come down. For I must be a guest in your home today.” Luke 19:5

Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. Luke 19:6

But the crowds were displeased. “He’s gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner.” Luke 19:7

Open your homes to each other, without complaining. 1 Peter 4:9 (NCV)

Meanwhile Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord. And if I’ve overcharged people on their taxes, I’ll give them back four times as much.” Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today. And I the Son of Man have come to seek and to save those like him who are lost.” Luke 19:8-10

“If you know people who have wandered off from God’s truth, don’t write them off. Go after them. Get them back.” James 5:19 (MSG)

“So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God.” Romans 5:11
