READ AGAIN: Luke 17:1-10

  1. What does Jesus tell us about things that cause people to stumble? What does it mean to stumble?
  2. What is Jesus’ view on someone causing others to stumble?
  3. How can we rebuke someone and still do it lovingly? (v.3)
  4. Why does Jesus stress the importance of forgiveness?
  5. We can also look to the words of Paul in Ephesians to see an instruction of forgiveness. (cf. Ephesians 4:32) How does this model the example of how we should forgive others?
  6. It may seem like an odd thing to say, “Increase our faith!” in response to what Jesus is teaching. (v.5) What do you think the disciples meant by saying this?
  7. What significance is there about Jesus using the metaphor of the servant?

Reflect: (You do not need to answer this aloud if in small groups) Is there anyone in your life that you need to forgive? Is there something you are still holding onto?

Pray: “God, I ask for your Spirit to live inside me and give me the ability to forgive and love as Christ does. May my actions and words not cause others to stumble, but point others to You. Amen.”
