Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise. Proverbs 13:10

We are called to be peace
Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:18
Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. Romans 14:19
“If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector. Matthew 18:15-17

• What are some ways pride holds us back from experiencing peace in our relationships?
• Share about a time when pride led to conflict in your life. How could humility have changed the outcome?
2. Peace Is Not Passive:
• What is the difference between being a peacekeeper and a peacemaker? How does that impact your approach to conflicts?
• How can we actively make peace in situations where there is tension or disagreement?
3. Pursue Peace:
• Read Romans 14:19. Paul encourages us to pursue the things that make for peace. What are some practical ways we can pursue peace in our daily interactions with others?
• How do you typically react when someone wrongs you? Read Matthew 18:15-17. How does this guide us to handle conflict in the church or with believers?
4. Address Conflict, Don’t Avoid It:
• Why do you think addressing conflict directly is important for making peace?
• How can we make sure our approach to addressing conflict reflects the wisdom of Proverbs 15:1 (“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger”)?

• Read John 14:27 about the peace that Jesus gives, which is different than the world’s peace. How have you experienced His peace in your life?
