God-Breathed Living

Day 150: Dead to Sin. Alive to God.

Today’s Reading:
Judges 19–21, Psalm 124, Proverbs 28, Romans 6

Today’s Scripture Focus: Romans 6:11 (NLT)
“So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.”

Devotional:

Here’s the shift: You’re not just forgiven — you’re free.

Romans 6 slams down the truth that too many believers miss. You’re not just someone limping through life, barely holding on, hoping to make it to heaven. You are someone who has been raised with Christ, dead to sin, alive to God, walking in resurrection power…now!

That means sin doesn’t own you anymore.
Shame doesn’t define you anymore.
Your past doesn’t trap you anymore.

But here’s the catch… You have to consider yourself dead to sin. That’s a mindset shift. It’s a choice to see yourself the way God sees you — no longer bound, no longer stuck, no longer a slave to old patterns.

This isn’t just about resisting temptation. It’s about stepping into a new identity. When we see as God sees, we’ll do as God says, and live as God designs.

You don’t fight to become free — you fight because you already are.

Today, draw the line. Don’t negotiate with what Christ already defeated. Don’t entertain chains He already broke.
Walk in your new life.
Walk in the power He’s already given you.

You’re dead to sin. You’re alive to God.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Where are you still living like sin has power over you, even though Christ has set you free?

  2. What would change today if you fully stepped into your “alive to God” identity?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for making me dead to sin and alive to God. Forgive me for the places where I still live stuck, even though You’ve set me free. Teach me to think and walk like someone who’s been raised with You — with power, with grace, with purpose. I surrender the old patterns and step into the new life You’ve already won for me. In Your glorious name, amen.

Digging Deeper:

Judges 19–21 is some of the darkest territory in Scripture — a brutal picture of what happens when people do what’s right in their own eyes without God. It’s a sobering reminder that human brokenness, without divine guidance, spirals into destruction.

Psalm 124 celebrates deliverance: “If the Lord had not been on our side…” It’s a song of gratitude for the ways God has stepped in and rescued His people.

Proverbs 28 emphasizes integrity: “Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and rich.” (v.6) True strength is rooted in character, not just success.

Romans 6 is your wake-up call: You’re no longer chained to sin. You’re alive in Christ. Don’t live like a prisoner when the door’s been flung open.

Today is your day to walk free.
Step up. Step out. Step into who God says you are.
