Thesis
We are led through adversity to deepen our relationship with God.

Scripture: Luke 22:31-34
“Simon, Simon, look out. Satan has asked to sift you like wheat. But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” “Lord,” he told him, “I’m ready to go with you both to prison and to death.” “I tell you, Peter,” he said,“the rooster will not crow today until you deny three times that you know me.”

  1. Read through the passage in two different translations.

    • As you heard the Scripture, what stood out to you?
  2. Reflect upon a story of adversity from your life.

    • What was the situation?
    • What did God reveal to you?
    • What was the invitation to you?
    • How did you see your relationship with God deepen?
  3. Reflect on the two quotes from the sermon and share any thoughts:

    • “Sin happens whenever we refuse to keep growing.” (Gregory of Nyssa)
    • “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” (C.S. Lewis)
