Philippians 3:7-14 NKJV
7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also
count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I
have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and
be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is
through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know
Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being
conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain[a] to the resurrection from the
dead.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 NKJV
*The Greatest Gift*
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become
sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and
understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could
remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to
feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me
nothing.
It’s not that I do these things because I am a Christian. I am a Christian and these
things manifest in my life because of my love relationship with the Father.

Philippians 3:12-14 NKJV
Pressing Toward the Goal
12 Not that I have already attained,[a] or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay
hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count
myself to have [b]apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind
and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the
prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

This verse is to remind Christians to always be striving to be more like Christ and do
not settle for mediocracy.

You are as close to God as you want to be!
Wash, Rinse, Repeat

Wash

When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have
been washed, forgiven, and made whole. The old person is
dead, and you have been made alive in Christ Jesus.
but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those
things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in
Christ Jesus.

Colossians 2:11-15 NKJV
Not Legalism but Christ
11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting
off the body [a]of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in
baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who
raised Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the
uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all
trespasses, 14 having wiped out the [b]handwriting of requirements that was against us,
which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them,
triumphing over them in it.

Rinse

Ephesians 5:25-27 NKJV
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
26 that He might [a]sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that
He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such
thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
There are times after the rinse, that we realize there is still some dirt
that needs to be taken care of.

Hebrews 12:1 NKJV
The Race of Faith
12 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay
aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance
the race that is set before us,

Romans 12:2 NKJV
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

2 Corinthians 6:14-16 NKJV
14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what [a]fellowship has
righteousness with lawlessness? And what [b]communion has light with darkness? 15 And
what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And
what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you[c] are the temple of the living
God.

Matthew 18:6-9 NKJV
Jesus Warns of Offenses
6 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better
for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the
sea. 7 Woe to the world because of [a]offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man
by whom the offense comes!
8 “If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to
enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the
everlasting fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is
better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into
[b]hell fire.
Jesus is telling us to deal aggressively with sin. Don’t play with it.

Romans 6:5-11 NKJV
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be
in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him,
that the body of sin might be [a]done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7
For he who has died has been [b]freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that
we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no
more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin
once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, [c]reckon
yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord

“Why is it that most Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow
advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not
thoughtfully meditate on God’s Word. From such folly deliver us, Oh Lord.” —C.H. Spurgeon
