Message Notes:

MAIN IDEA:

If you are having a hard time communicating and treating each other the right way.

Ask God to reshape your words and your ways.

Part 1 – Ask God To Reshape Your Words

James 1:19
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry NIV

Proverbs 18:13
He who answers before listening — that is his folly and his shame.

Try not to be defensive … really try to hear what they are saying before responding.

Proverbs 13:3
He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin. NIV

Don’t blurt out without restraint … ask God for wisdom on how to approach each conversation.

MAIN IDEA:

Ask God to reshape your words and your ways.

Part 2 – Ask God To Reshape Your Ways

Ephesians 5:21-33
21 And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. (Then he explains what he means by that) 22 FOR WIVES, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church… VS. 25 FOR HUSBANDS, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her…VS. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. 33 So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

My Stance:
Vs. 21 - Mutual submission … submit to one another out of reverence for Christ

MAIN IDEA:

If you are having a hard time communicating and treating each other the right way.

Ask God to reshape your words and your ways.

IN CLOSING:

If you had to think of the way your words and actions are affecting your spouse…

How would you grade that?

CHALLENGE:

Do homework: Set a date, get a sitter, and talk about this.

Ask each other the following:

1. Is there anything I can do to communicate better to you?

2. Is there anything I can change with how I treat you?

If you prayed the prayer to start fresh with God today text “startagain” (one word) to 97000 so we can connect with you and help you take the next steps in this amazing decision.
