Week 3: The Fine Print pt.2

Getting to Know Me Questions:
* Who was your first real crush? Who was your first “celebrity” crush

* What is something you’ve trained for? What did you do to prepare?

Into the Bible Questions:
* What’s something from the teaching that you learned, that stood out, interesting etc?

* Big Idea: From an early age many of us had ideas of what the perfect relationship would
look like in our future. While those dreams may not represent your current reality, a step in
the right direction could be to follow the apostle Paul’s advice—move from our childish
ways and start being grownups.

* For the last few weeks Pastor Kirby has used a quote from Pastor Andy Stanley.
“Following Jesus will make your life better and following Jesus will make you better at life.”
After 3 weeks of discussion, how are you responding/feeling about this quote?

* What are some “childish” notions or assumptions about love that you carried into
adulthood?

READ: 1 Corinthians 13:6–7
* What are some ways we can protect the ones we love?

* Are you able to believe the best and overlook the rest? Why or why not?

READ: 1 Corinthians 13:11
* Out of the topics listed, where do you have work to do? Are you self-seeking? Easily
angered? A scorekeeper? Not protective?

* When you observe other couples, what are their characteristics which demonstrate they
have put aside “childish ways” within their relationship? What are some characteristics of
those who haven’t figured out how to yet?

* These characteristics are found in more than just romantic relationships. In what areas do
you need to become or grow in within other relationships? Ie. As a parent, a child, a
sibling, a friend, a coworker etc?

Application Questions:
* 2 Self-reflection (or share with your significant other) questions:
1. What is one thing about yourself you need to work on in order to transition from child to
grownup in your relationship?

2. Below are the words that demonstrate what love is. For each one, are you more interested
in becoming like these or for someone else to?

Patient
Not arrogant
Not easily angered
Trusting
Kind
Honoring
Not a scorekeeper
Hopeful
Not jealous
Self-less
Protective
Persevering
