Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
Rev 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
Rev 4:3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
Rev 4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Rev 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
Rev 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
Rev 4:7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
Rev 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
Rev 4:9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,
Rev 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

1. We notice that in chapters 4 and 5 the word throne mentioned

times.
2. John has been taken in spirit into Heaven and into the of God and is now describing what he is seeing.

3. In verse 2 he tells us one was seated on the throne and this is

.
4. John describes the aura of God like Jasper and Sardius Stone which is brilliant deep in appearance.
5. These stone were well known to be worn by .
6. Round about the throne or surrounding the throne is a rainbow that had a like an emerald.

Rev 4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
7. Also round about the thrown was

elders sitting on thrones who are somewhat of a mystery.
8. I believe most likely they represent SAINTS both old testament and new testament based on their song in Revelation 5:9-10.

Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

9. Other clues are their white apparel and their crowns which we read about in chapters two and three as rewards to those who

.
10. The crown is very interesting because it is an crown called a stephanos similar to a trophy.
11. But in Revelation 19 when Jesus appears with his crown it is the word diadem or a crown.

Rev 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
12. In verse 5 John begins to describe things coming out of the throne and things

the throne.
13. Lightnings, thunder and voices all represent and authority.
14. The seven Spirits before the throne are the same that we read in chapter 1 and are a picture of the .

Rev 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
15. Verse 6 says that also before the throne was a crystal sea that represents perfect

.
16. Some view this as a body of water and others as the sea of humanity.
17. Then in the midst and around the thrown John sees four chanting Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty which was and is and is to come day and night.
18. Similar beast are described by Ezekiel and Isaiah known as seraphim or

19. There is

in almost every aspect of these creatures.
20. Surrounded with eyes and eyes in their wings denotes .
21. Likeness of a lion represents .
22. Likeness of a calf represents .
23. Likeness of a man represents reason and .
24. The likeness of an eagle represents .

25. As the beast would chant the elders worshipped and

their crowns at the foot of the thrown of God.
26. Some people believe this has been and will continue to take place for all of eternity while others believe this is a significant that will only take place this one time.
