Title: Jesus The Savior
Text: 1 John 4:14
Date: December 17, 2023

Introduction: The name you give to your child may not determine his or her destiny. However, the name that was given to our Lord was a part of His destiny. “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus because he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

“Savior” is one of the most popular names for Jesus in the New Testament and down through the ages. In one of the first sermons of the church, Peter looked back at what had happened and declared about Jesus, “God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins” (Acts 5:31). When Paul looked forward to what would someday happen, he declared, “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20).

Savior is the name given to Jesus in our text this morning. In John’s letter, the Bible records, “And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world” (1 John 4:14). What truths do we need to understand from this passage?

I. The

of Jesus.

II. The

of salvation.

III. The

Jesus came to save.

IV. The

about Jesus.
