What if doubt didn’t control your life? Doubt makes you like a wave. A wave has no control over where it goes. It is tossed to and fro by things we can’t see and it always comes crashing down. Doubt is like that. Doubt always fears the unknown and it leads us crashing down and backsliding where we shouldn’t. David can relate. Today let’s look at how David’s life can show us the power of doubt when it overcomes us but also a timeless remedy to defeat doubt in our lowest moments. You can overcome the doubt that controls your life!
James 1:6-8 ESV But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
The Process of Doubt
1 Samuel 27:1 ESV Then David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will despair of seeking me any longer within the borders of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand.
The Power of Doubt
1 Samuel 26:25 ESV Then Saul said to David, “Blessed be you, my son David! You will do many things and will succeed in them.” So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.
The Remedy of Doubt
1 Samuel 30:6 ESV And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
