INTRODUCTION
Identity is a vital topic, but like many things, it is easier to see how others are misguided about their identities than how we many be misguided ourselves. Our enemy loves for us to be distracted and to be deceived. How much more damaging could his effort be than to get each of us distracted and deceieved about what our own identity is. each of us is a reslut of our thoughts and beleiefs. Those thoughts are not visible, but their results ofen spill over in how we live. As we think, so we are. Mastermind is our opportuninty to take a moment to evaluate our thoughts. The Holy Spirit will help you slow down, evaluate, make conclusions, and then make the necessary changes. Most people do not approach this process with glee so you are not alone if you have hesitation or, perhaps even resistance. You deserve to be led by what is true about yourself. Please take these next two weeks to engage. You deserve it!
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
We all grow up with assumptions about life and then have moments we learn that what we assumed was true was, in fact, not true at all. What is an assumption you held and then realized you were wrong?
When we ask Jesus to be the Lord of our life He wants to also help us in how we think and view ourselves. What is something Jesus is revealing to you about how you view yourself?
All of us know what it feels like to be given a label. What is a label that you have been given that was very wrong or that you worked hard to change?
Can you think of a time that you were challenged on something that you had previously held as being true about yourself? How did you resond to someone challenging you on something you thought about yourself?
How have you been able to help soneone else to determine their worth is greater than a lable they wear?
Does who you are determine what you do OR does what you do determine who you are?
Jesus told us that we will know the truth and it will set us free. What label do you need to remove and what label do you need to wear?
Insecurity is a very unsettling concept to consider for most people. How honest and courageous are you about your own insecurities?
MOVING FORWARD
Believing that Jesus loves us is not a very hard thing to believe. Believing that He loves (most )people is also not too difficult. But believing He loves us is very often a challenge. We are not only given lables by others, but we often believe them and help to fortify them in our minds. Inviting Jesus into those vulnerable, sacred, and potentialy painful places is hard! Our hope is that you will invite Jesus into that place and also that you will find a person or two that you can trust to help you align to your true identity in Christ. You need to know there are people praying for you to discover the truth about who you are and the truth about who you are not. Perhaps the greatest truth you can discover is the truth about who you no longer are due to your commitment to Jesus. We are cheering you on towards thruth and freedom!
