(Jesus) “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed…Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants… The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.” Matthew 13:31-33

Let’s make the strategy of Jesus our strategy:

1.

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
John 13:14-15

Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.” Luke 22:25-26 (See Matthew 5:16)

2.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

3.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” John 17:20-23

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. What is one of the most remarkable things anyone has ever done for you out of love?
  2. Read John 13:1-15. Jesus knew Judas would betray Him and still washed His feet. What does this teach you? How can you “wash the feet” of those around you today? In what ways do you need to move outside of your areas of comfort and convenience to do this?
  3. Read John 13:34-35. How did Jesus say the world would recognize his followers? How can we better demonstrate that to our county?
  4. Read John 17:20-23. How did Jesus say the world would believe in him? How are we as Christians doing in this regard? How can we as a church better demonstrate “perfect unity” to our county?
