- Share with your group about a journey you have recently been on, or a trip you are looking forward to going on.
- What were some expectations you had (or have, if you are single) about what marriage should be like? How have those expectations helped or hurt your understanding of marriage?
- What are ways to make sure we are not expecting other people to meet the needs that only God can fulfill?
- How does the idea that marriage is “not about you” actually help you build a healthy marriage? How has selfishness worked against this idea in your marriage?
- In what ways does your vertical relationship with Jesus affect your horizontal relationship with your spouse in marriage? How does following Jesus impact the way you love your spouse?
- The power of truth and love inside a marriage can be incredibly strong, either positively formative or negatively destructive. Why is truth so important for a healthy marriage? Why is the affirming love of a spouse so powerful?
- If you are married, share with the group about your marriage in the story of a journey (beginning, twists, turns, mountain peaks, deep valleys, etc).
- What are some specific ways that you and the church can invest in your marriage?
Close in prayer.
