Judges, Faith, and Obedience - The Story of One Man

Hebrews 11
32 How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the
stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel,
and all the prophets.
33 By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled
with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the
mouths of lions,
34 quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by
the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They
became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.
35 Women received their loved ones back again from death.

Hebrews 12
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to
the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down,
especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with
endurance the race God has set before us.
2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding
its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
3 Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.

Romans 8.33 “…God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.”

Romans 5
18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s
one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new
life for everyone.
19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became
sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made
righteous.

20 God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they
were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became
more abundant.
21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them
to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right
standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord.

1 John 2.1-2
My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

Hebrews 7. 24-26
But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.
