What did you want to be when you were a kid? What happened to that dream?

What are you looking forward to in the next season of life?

One of the most powerful lessons about life that we’re given in the Bible comes from King Solomon. Solomon obtained what most people strive for in life: wealth, power, relationships, and respect. The book of Ecclesiastes is full of wisdom he has learned through his experience.

Read Ecclesiastes 1:1-2

What are your first thoughts/feelings when you hear Solomon describe that “everything is meaningless?”

The phrase “everything is meaningless” sounds helpless, but what was Solomon wanting the reader to understand?

Life is full of good and wonderful things: success, relationships, pleasures, and possessions. Yet, when we put a “good thing” in God’s place, it becomes a bad thing.

What does it look like to put a good thing in God’s place?

While there are moments in life where we have to choose between right and wrong, it seems as if most of life’s decisions are harder to discern and are more about deciding between right and almost right.

Read James 1:5

What was the hardest decision you’ve ever had to make? What helped you make your decision?

What do you do when the Bible doesn’t speak specifically to your situation?

Regardless of what we’ve achieved in life, many times we find ourselves looking ahead to the future to the next accomplishment, next big thing, or next season of life. Many times, we believe that the next season of life will bring us more fulfillment/joy/peace than this one. Yet, God doesn’t want us to waste your “Now.”

Read James 4:13-15

How can you live out your God-given purpose in your current season of life?
