In Christ

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. —Matthew 11:28 - 29

Soul Rest

King Asa: A Pattern For Victory

And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God… —2 Chronicles 14:11a

…For we rest on You… —2 Chronicles 14:11b

Soul Rest

Now may the God of peace
Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ. —1 Thessalonians 5:23

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. —3 John 1:2

29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I amgentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” —Matthew 11:29-30

For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness. —Psalms 107:9

8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in
you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit
of Christ, he is not His.
10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead
because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. —Romans 8:8-10

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. —Galatians 6:7-8

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. —Proverbs 23:7a

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. —Romans 12:2

1. My soul rests outside of worry in Christ.

25“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? —Matthew 6:25 - 27

2. My soul rests outside of fear in Christ.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. —1 John 4:18

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. —2 Timothy 1:7

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? —Romans 8:31

3. My soul rests outside of anxiousness in Christ.

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer
and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:6 - 7

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. —John 14:27

4. My soul rests in not having to be in control.

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. —Proverbs 21:1

There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel - that will stand. —Proverbs 19:21

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. —Romans 8:28

1 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
2 So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” —Luke 11:1 - 2

5. My soul is at rest in tomorrow.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient
for the day is its own trouble. —Matthew 6:34

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. —Hebrews 13:8

6. My soul is at rest in the light.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” —John 8:12

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. —Matthew 5:14

7. My soul is at rest in His Victory.

54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption,
and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “O Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. —1 Corinthians 15:54 - 57
