Psalm 1:1-3 - Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.

Happiness Is a Choice, Our Choice

Deuteronomy 30:15–20 - “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. 16 If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. 17 But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today, that you shall surely perish. You shall not live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to enter and possess. 19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, 20 loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob to give them.”

Decisions
Allow the Advice of the to Impact Our Behavior
Psalm 50:16–20 - But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips? 17  For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you. 18  If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers. 19  You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit. 20  You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.”
Allow Today’s to Become Tomorrow’s Habit
With each parallel unit the expression becomes more intense. This signifies a progression from a casual influence of ungodly people to collusion with them in their scorn against the righteous. (Ross)
  Behaviors and Have Consequences
The godless, whose moral condition is lax, devoid of stay, and as it were gone beyond the reasonable bounds of true unity (wanting in stability of character), so that they are like a tossed and stormy sea (Isaiah 57:20f - But the wicked are like the tossing sea; for it cannot be quiet, and its waters toss up mire and dirt. There is no peace”, says my God, “for the wicked.”
  We Can Make Choices
Embrace the Law (Proverbs 1:1–7 - The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: 2  To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, 3  to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; 4  to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— 5  Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, 6  to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles. 7  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.)

      Our Depends On It
Proverbs 3:1–6 - My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, 2  for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. 3  Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4  So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. 5  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Joshua 1:8 - This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Proverbs 3:18 - She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. Matthew 13:23 - As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.

Jeremiah 17:7–8 - “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. 8  He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”
