What Happens When We are Impulsive or Intentional?
Three Essential Questions:
1. Does my decision align with God’s will?
2. Does my decision help or hurt?
3. Do my actions align with my intentions?
Decision + Action = Outcome
“The borrower is the servant to the lender.” Proverbs 22:7
Are You Impulsive or Intentional with Your Finances?
1 - Am I living one month or more ahead on credit?
“Don’t withhold repayment of your debts. Don’t say `some other time,’ if you can pay it now.” Proverbs 3:27-28
“Boast not of tomorrow, for you don’t know what tomorrow will bring.”
Proverbs 27:1
2 - Do I pay my credit card off or pay the minimum balance?
“Let no debt remain outstanding.” Romans 13:8
3 - Am I unable to tithe or save?
“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob Me. But you ask, `How do we rob You?’ In tithes and offerings.” Malachi 3:8
“The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.” Proverbs 21:20
4. Do I skimp on the basics to buy the bling?
How to Become Intentional with Your Finances
1 - Commit to lowering your debt load ASAP.
“The wicked borrow and do not repay.” Psalm 37:21
2 - Before you buy anything non-essential ask two key questions: Do I need it now? Do I need it at all?
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” Proverbs 21:5
3 - Pay God and myself first.
“Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity.” Proverbs 21:5
“What is impossible with men is possible with God.” Luke 18:27
4 - Stick to the plan.
“Let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.” Galatians 6:9
