Questions for Spiritual Growth

  1. What did Jesus predict would happen to the Temple in Jerusalem? How was His prediction fulfilled?

  2. What did the disciples envision about the end times?

  3. In verses 5-8, how do we know that Jesus was not just describing the destruction of the Temple in further detail? What was He describing?

  4. How do present earthquakes, wars, and disasters not even compare with what is to come?

  5. How can we not be anxious but instead have peace when future persecution comes? What words of comfort did Jesus provide?

  6. Why should you not be surprised when you are hated because of faith in Christ?

  7. How important is perseverance of the faith? What does it mean?

  8. If God so wills, are you willing to endure persecution from even the most intimate friends and family members?

“If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also.” - John 15:18–20

“Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” - 2 Timothy 3:12
