Big idea: The life of an authentic disciple must be renovated from the inside out
and not driven by external appearance.

Understanding hypocrisy
1. Hypocrisy is the gap between what we

and we are.
2. Hypocrisy is the difference between what we and how we .
3. Hypocrisy is the difference between our and our
.

Hope for the hypocrite
1. Jesus has

for hypocrisy, but He has
for people in need of forgiveness.
2. We have nothing to when we bring our stuff to Jesus and stop
pretending.

Questions for reflection
1. Describe how you feel or what you think about when you hear the word
hypocrisy.

2.Describe what masks you wore growing up. How did you show yourself as
someone you weren’t?

3.Identify the gaps between your public persona and private character. Then
identify who can help you begin to close this gap and reach out to them.
