
Bleesed are those who mourn
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted
Mourn: to lament, grieve and to feel guilt
The first four Beatitudes describe the Christian’s relation to God
The second four layout the Christian’s relations and duties to other people
2 Corinthians 1:4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Paraphrase: “Blessed are those who mourn for their sins, for they shall receive forgiveness and life eternal.”
Are you tired of sin – or just of its consequences?
2 Corinthians 7:10, “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”
(Isaiah 61:3) Unto them that mourn in Zion [God has appointed], to give…beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness”
“I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow” (Jeremiah 31:13, also see Isaiah 57:18).
John 16:20 Truly, truly, I tell you, you will weep and wail while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.
Jeramiah 6:15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall:
Ashamed: Withered, no moisture & Dry. No tears. Callous, indifferent
