Key Verses: 1 Peter 4:1-11

Opening Question: Have you ever had a situation in life where you stood out from the crowd as different in some way? If so, share the story.

1. Read 1 Peter 4:1
a. What does it look like for Christians to “arm” themselves or make themselves ready for suffering for Christ? How are you doing in this area?

b. Peter mentions that the one that has “suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.” How does suffering inhibit sin?

2. Read 1 Peter 4:2-3
a. Why is it so difficult to give up the things of the past to follow the will of God? How can we assist one another in this area?

b. Without naming names, pray for believers you know right now struggling in this area.

3. Read 1 Peter 4:4-6
a. Within our own culture, the world looks at those who live for Christ as “aliens and strangers” (1 Peter 2:11). How can you support one another while being smeared, insulted, and slandered for the gospel? Pray for those who have slandered you in the past and those yet to malign you.

4. Read 1 Peter 4:7-11
a. Why does Peter need to remind his audience that they need to be hospitable to one another?

b. Have you discovered your Spiritual Gift? What is it? Are you using or willing to use it for the Kingdom?

c. Discuss the difference of serving God with the strength God supplies and not serving Him with the strength He supplies.
