Big Idea of the Message: The apostle Paul, upon receiving his call to discipleship and ministry, travels to Arabia to affirm his new identity in Christ.
Application Point: Setting aside time apart before embarking upon any life change has the power to renew and prepare us for whatever God has in store for us.
Take some time to share:
• One thing that you are thankful for this week.
• One thing you need.
• How can the group help?
Bible Discussion: Read Galatians 1:11-17
• What about this passage stands out to you as you read?
• Why do you think Paul did not go straight to Jerusalem upon his call to ministry?
• What do you think he was doing during this time away?
Application:
“To find life we must die to life as we know it. To find meaning we must die to meaning as we know it” –Thomas Merton
• Have you ever taken time off between jobs or school? What might the benefits of such an endeavor be?
• Paul had just experienced a radical change in his thinking. Would it have been wise for him to jump right in? Why or why not?
• How do you get your head right when trying to take on a new direction or venture?
• How can taking a bit longer to reach your destination benefit the outcome in the long run?
