THE GREAT SUSTAINER

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. —Psalm 55:22

THE SUSTAINMENT OF LIFE BEHIND THE VEIL

1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2  looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. —Hebrews 12:1 - 2

31  “You shall make a veil woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen. It shall be woven with an artistic design of cherubim.
32  You shall hang it upon the four pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold. Their hooks shall be gold, upon four sockets of silver. you shall put the table on the north side.
33  And you shall hang the veil from the clasps. Then you shall bring the ark of the Testimony in there, behind the veil. The veil shall be a divider for you between the holy place and the Most Holy. —Exodus 26:31 - 33

And Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord. —Exodus 30:10

And the Lord said to Moses: “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud above the mercy seat. —Leviticus 16:2

19  This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,
20  where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. —Hebrews 6:19 - 20

19  Therefore, brethren, having boldness[a] to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20  by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, —Hebrews 10:19 - 20

1. Life behind the veil comes through faith.

22  let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
23  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
24  And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
25  not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. —Hebrews 10:22 - 25

So then faith comes by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God. —Romans 10:17

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, —Jude 1:20

2. Life behind the veil will require a long obedience in the same direction.

Therefore, having been justified by faith,
we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ. —Romans 5:1

38  Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”
39  But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul. —Hebrews 10:38 - 39

38  And my righteous ones will live by faith.[a]     But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”
39  But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved. —Hebrews 10:38 - 39 (NLT)

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. —Hebrews 11:1

39  And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise,
40  God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us. —Hebrews 11:39 - 40

3. Life behind the veil is only possible through Jesus.

For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. —2 Corinthians 3:17

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” —John 14:6

So he explained it to them: “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. —John 10:7

4. Life behind the veil changes everything!

1 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.
2  And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;
3  who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.
4  And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.”
5  So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
6  Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
7  And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8  So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. —Acts 3:1 - 8

1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. —Romans 5:1 - 2
