Central Idea: Being a disciple of Christ requires us to walk in step with the Holy Spirit.

I. Walk by the Spirit: Transforming our minds through Scripture.

A. Hebrews 4:12-13; Ephesians 4:14-15; Romans 12:2

II. Walk by the Spirit: Prayer

A. 1 John 5:14-15

III. Walk by the Spirit: Attack your sin.

A. Grace enables change.

IV. Walk by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

CROSSPOINT CROSSINGS

  1. How is it possible to be a Christian and yet refuse to submit to the Holy Spirit’s leading in your life?

  2. Read Hebrews 4:12-13; Ephesians 4:14-15; Romans 12:2; 1 John 5:14-15. What role does prayer and Scripture play in helping us walk by the Spirit?

  3. As Christians, it’s easy to ignore the promptings of the Spirit and passively allow “more acceptable” sins to remain in our lives. Why is it so easy to do this?

  4. Are there areas of sin you’ve allowed to remain in your life? In what ways can you follow the Spirit’s lead to eliminate these areas of sin?

  5. God’s grace properly understood leads us to obedience. Discuss this statement. Do you agree or disagree? Why?

  6. Read 2 Corinthians 5:7. In your own life, where is the Holy Spirit prompting you to take a step of faith?
