WAKE UP AND SEIZE THE DAY!
O Sleeper – Part 1

July 30th, 2023
“Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:14–16 (ESV)
“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10
In this series, we will learn to seize the day as we study four imperatives every believer must wake up to, enabling us to show Christ’s love in our world.
1.- We must
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.” Ephesians 5:1 (ESV)
“Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.” Ephesians 4:17 (NLT)
“Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,” Ephesians 5:18 (NLT)
“Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.” Ephesians 4:24 (NLT)
We are not commanded to
2.- We must
“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.” Ephesians 5:15 (NLT)
“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11 (NLT)
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.” Psalm 119:9 (ESV)
3.- We must
“Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” Ephesians 5:17 (NLT)
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
“He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel.” Psalm 103:7 (ESV)
12 One day Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Take these people up to the Promised Land.’ But you haven’t told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, ‘I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.’ 13 If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.” Exodus 33:12–13 (NLT)
4.- We must
19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Ephesians 5:19–21 (NLT)
“Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2 (NLT)
