Taking it Further to Help You THRIVE…

  1. Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

2. Nathan was quick to tell David to go and do whatever his heart desired (verse 3). Why was this advice premature?

3. With a heart desiring to honor God, what does David propose to ‘do for God’? How does God respond to David? Why would God not want David to do this?

4. Why do we so often get caught up in what we can do for God? What are the dangers of chasing ‘doing more and more FOR God’? What do we miss in the process? Why is God not pleased with this?

5. God reminded David of all He had done for him - how He had brought David from the pasture to the throne. What ‘pasture to throne’ transitions has God made in your life? What are some highlight moments of God’s faithfulness to you over these years?

6. God told David He would establish the throne of his kingdom forever (verse 13). What does this mean? Who is this talking about? How significant is this promise”

7. The bulk of God’s promise to David wasn’t even about David! It wasn’t something David would personally experience or enjoy. Why can we tend to get so wrapped up in what is here-and-now? Why is having an eternal perspective so challenging? Why is it important?
