SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS
WARM UP QUESTION
2 OPTIONS: 1. Are there any couples in the group that would want to tell the story of how you met? 2. What is something that you used to be very passionate about that you aren’t passionate about anymore? [Today we are going to study Revelation 2:1-7, the church that lost its first love.]
HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Read Revelation 2:1-7. What does Jesus commend? What does He seek to correct?
2. Jesus says “do the works you did at first”. What do you think that means and why would it be helpful?
3. How can someone know that they have abandoned their first love?
4. Is Jesus saying that we always need to be in the “honeymoon phase” of our faith? Is there a difference between being past the “honeymoon phase” and “abandoning your first love”?
HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
5. Jesus says in v. 5 to “remember”. Think back to a time when you were especially fervent in your faith. What do you remember about that time? What does remembering do in your heart?
HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
6. Is the Spirit highlighting any “works you did at first” that you need to go back to?
