SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. —Matthew 6:33

3  And said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
4  Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. —Matthew 18:3 - 4

SEEKING THE CHILDLIKE LANGUAGE OF THE KINGDOM

1  So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret,
2  and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets.
3  Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
4  When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
5  But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
6  And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
7  So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
8  When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
9  For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;
10  and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.”
11  So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him. —Luke 5:1 - 11

NEVERTHELESS

1. The love of His Kingdom will seek you.

—Luke 5:1 - 3

20  Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed,
21  nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.” —Luke 17:20 - 21

Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,
I will come in to him and dine with him,
and he with Me. —Revelation 3:20

2. A childlike faith allows for nevertheless trust.

4  When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
5  But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” —Luke 5:4 - 5

Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,
I will come in to him and dine with him,
and he with Me. —Romans 10:17

23  Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
24  Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” —Mark 9:23 - 24

3. Your miracle is just on the other side of nevertheless obedience.

6  And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
7  So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. —Luke 5:6 - 7

So Samuel said:
“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.” —1 Samuel 15:22

But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it!” —Luke 11:28

4. Nevertheless humbleness brings a new revelation of Jesus.

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” —Luke 5:8

Therefore whoever humbles himself
as this little child is the greatest in the
kingdom of heaven. —Matthew 18:4

1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!”
4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

5 So I said:

“Woe is me, for I am [a]undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The Lord of hosts.” —Isaiah 6:1 - 5

5. Nevertheless childlike faith changes everything!

9  For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;
10  and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.”
11  So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him. —Luke 5:9 - 11

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who  do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. —Romans 8:1

16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. —John 3:16 - 17
