21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Day 6 | January 7th

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old,
from ancient days. —Micah 5:2

Our thinking today is not any different than that in Bible times. As we get wealthier, we become less reliant and can drift farther from the God who blessed us with what we have. Such is true of Israel as well. In Micah’s time, the wealthier Israel got the less they relied on God for their daily needs. They became spiritually depraved. They turned from their true God. But God would restore Israel and He was going to do it through the line of Judah. In Micah 5:2, God tells Bethlehem a ruler will come from you, “whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. God would come Himself and restore Israel to Himself.

We also have newer gods that can take the place of God. God is a jealous, but He is also a forgiving God and has given us a way. The same God that was born in Bethlehem died for everyone who chooses to believe. Jesus Christ is the same today as He was in Bethlehem.

Examine your heart. Have you replaced God with another God? If you have, right now vow to return God to His place of honor. First in your life!
