Preserving & Shining: Joining in God’s Kingdom Work
October 23, 2022
Pastor Bryan Walmer
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16
We are not spectators.
1) We are salt.
We are meant to be seasoning that points to the goodness of Jesus. (Jeremiah 29:4-7)
We are meant to be a preservative in the world around us.
2) We are light.
Jesus is the light of the world. (John 1:1-5, 8:12)
We are a community of light shining into the darkness.
We have been uniquely gifted by the Holy Spirit to do the work of ministry. (1 Corinthians 12:7, Ephesians 4:11-12)
