Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.
• Monday: Read Lk 1:1-25 As you read of Zech (Zack) and Elizabeth (Liz). We measure life in years lived, let us begin to live life in terms of eternal impact: Tell the Lord of your commitment to living a life with and for Him that honors Him, lives beyond your days and fulfills His long-term purposes for your life. How will the story of your life stand up to time? How will the story of your life align with God’s story generations after you’re gone?
• Tuesday: Read Lk 1:1-25, Heb 2:11, Philippians 2:15, 3:6, I Thess 3:13, 5:23, Acts 23:1. Zech and Elizabeth were blameless in God’s sight. Not a statement of sin but character & position w/the Lord. As a Christ follower, Christ’s blood covers your sin, in God’s sight you’re without guilt. Ask the Lord to remove feelings of the stories of guilt you carry that don’t align with the story of Christ followers.
• Wednesday: [Day of Fasting] Read Lk 2:1-21 Many see the Bible as rules & regulations. However, 75% of the Bible is narrative stories of accounts of real people. In their faithful service to the Lord, Zechariah and Elizabeth reflect God’s LongView - way back to Abraham & Sarah, to their day to today. Likewise, your story is in God’s Word & summed up in the story of Christ’s birth. Reflect on your own story. Ask the Lord to: (1) make it clear how your story aligns with the character of those in the Bible, (2) give you strength of character to live in a way that your life will further the greater story of God in those that study your life. [Your life is study worthy]
• Thursday: Read Lk 1:1-25, Judges 13:1-7, Num 6:1-21 While serving the Lord, an angel gave Zechariah direction, including specific instruction on how to raise the child. We see in Num 6 those separated to do God’s work took or were directed to take a vow. Today, seek the Lord for how you will vow to live for Him - for the rest of your life.
• Friday: Read Luke 1:1-25 Zechariah’s self doubt reflected his doubt of God. What an amazing insight. You, like us all, are aware of areas of doubt that you carry. What about the areas of doubt that limit us that we aren’t even aware of? As you seek to live a life that reflects God’s story, ask the Lord to strengthen you in any & every area of doubt you are or aren’t aware of.
