Our Mission: Living as a Witness

FOUR WAYS TO LIVE AS A WITNESS:

I. HAVE COMPASSION FOR PEOPLE.

Proverbs 24:11 Rescue those who are being taken away to death;
hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.

Luke 10:31-33 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion.

Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

1 Corinthians 9:22 (NIV) When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.

1 Thessalonians 2:7,8 But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. 8 So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.

II. ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS.

Matthew 10:32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven,

Ephesians 2:7 (NLT) So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

Acts 14:26,27 and from there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled. 27 And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

III. LIVE BY THE SPIRIT.

Galatians 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:3 And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Isaiah 30:21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

IV. LEARN FROM THE PAST.

Psalm 11:4 He causes us to remember his wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our Lord!

2 Corinthians 2:14 But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

Discussion Questions:

1) Have you personally found yourself in a situation similar to the story of the Good Samaritan? How did you react?

2) Do you acknowledge with others what Jesus has done in your life?

3) Describe a time when you were in step with the Holy Spirit.

4) Would you consider teaming up with a community like the Moravians?

5) Are you willing to be a witness for Jesus?
