Text: Matthew 1:18-21, 24; Romans 6:12-14, 23
Big idea: We need Christmas because we need a Savior.

What we really need

1. The angel specifically said you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will

   His people from their sins.

2. We can easily hear the angel say you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will

   Reveal Answer
   His people of their sins.

3. If we are not careful then we will reduce Christmas to a story of

4. Jesus did not come to simply forgive us from

   of sin or the
   Reveal Answer
   of sin. Jesus came to deliver us from the

   of sin in our lives.

What our Savior provides
Romans 6:12-14, 23

2. If your entire Christian experience has been

   , then you have missed part of the reason Jesus came.

Our response
Believer = celebrate that you live in he freedom from sin that Jesus offers.
Non-believer = respond to Jesus’ invitation for forgiveness of and deliverance from sin.
