Curveball: a pitch that is thrown with spin so that the ball makes an unexpected curve before it crosses home plate.

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns that catch us off guard.

…and sometimes those twists and turns are exactly what we need.

Faith that can’t be tested isn’t real faith.

God never does anything to harm us or tempt, but He will allow us to be tested.

“Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called “the friend of God.” —James 2:23 | NAB

“Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
—Genesis 12:1-3 | NIV84

More than anything else, God wants us to know we can trust Him.

What God promises, He always provides.

Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?” —Genesis 17:17 | NIV84

As we walk with God, God leaves room for doubt.

God knows the longer we walk with Him, the more we’ll trust Him.

It’s one thing to “believe in God,” it’s a whole other thing to “believe God.”

Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.” —Genesis 22:1-2 | NIV84

Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. —Genesis 22:3 | NIV84

On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.” —Genesis 22:4-5 | NIV84

By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.” —Hebrews 11:17-19 | NIV84

“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.” —Genesis 22:12-14 | NIV84

What God promises, He always provides.
