Day 20: Displaying Grace and Truth
Parenting can often seem like a balancing act. One minute I am disciplining, the next minute I am praising. The interesting thing we see about Jesus was that He was full of grace and truth. Often, we tend to think of grace and truth as mutually exclusive, meaning Jesus was 50% grace and 50% truth. In actuality and in every interaction Jesus was able to display 100% grace and 100% truth!
Read John 1:1-18
Q: Describe a situation where you see the grace of Jesus displayed in His life?
Q: Describe a situation where you see the truth of Jesus displayed in His life?
Q: Why can it seem hard as a parent to display both truth and grace?
Q: What does it look like to be convicted of truth at the expense of displaying grace? What does it look like to display grace at the expense of truthful convictions?
Q: What is one step that you could take to help you grow in truth?
Q: What is one step that you could take to help you grow in grace?
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, I thank you that you are 100% grace and 100% truth. Your example allows me to embrace the understanding that I can be compassionate to my children without giving up on truth. May your Holy Spirit help me to recognize how best to display grace and truth to each of my family members!
