“So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?” (Luke 16:11, NIV)

1. I will keep good

. (The principle of accounting)

Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds, for riches do not last forever… (Proverbs 27:23-24)

2. I will plan my

. (The principle of budgeting)

The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. (Proverbs 21:5)

Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man’s dwelling, but a foolish man devours it. (Proverbs 21:20)

3. I will save for the

. (The principle of saving)

Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it. (Proverbs 13:11)

4. I will return

to God. (The principle of tithing)

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. (Malachi 3:10)

Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10)

5. I will

what I have. (The principle of contentment)

But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. (1 Timothy 6:8)

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

Main point: Money doesn’t have to smart if you’re smart with your money.
