HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF A TRIAL
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
James 1:5-8 NIV
WISDOM IS INDISPENSABLE THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THAT TRIAL.
“THE GREATEST CHALLENGE INVOLVED IN FACING A TRIAL IS DISCIPLINING OUR MINDS TO SEEK WISDOM FROM GOD WHEN WE WOULD RATHER GIVE IN TO OUR EMOTIONS.” —-Anonymous
I. KNOWLEDGE IS REMEMBERING FACTS. WISDOM IS PUTTING THOSE FACTS INTO PROPER ACTION.
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
Matthew 7:7-11 NIV
- GOD WILL GIVE WISDOM GENEROUSLY AND WITHOUT FINDING FAULT.
II. A DOUBTER IS DIVIDED BETWEEN TWO DESIRES:
1. THE DESIRE TO GET OUT FROM UNDER THE TRIAL.
2. THE NECESSITY TO TRUST GOD.
IN MOMENTS OF DEEP PAIN AND LOSS, MAY WE CHOOSE TO LOOK UP TO THE ONE WHO GAVE HIS ALL AND GAIN STRENGTH WITH A HEART THAT PUTS IT’S TRUST IN GOD ALONE. MAY WE SAY, “IT IS WELL, WITH MY SOUL.”
