Introduction:
Every day we face circumstances that require us to make decisions and choices. Navigating them can be difficult. If we are going to live wisely, we need God’s knowledge and wisdom. The pursuit of Godly wisdom should be a priority of the Christian life. Without God, we cannot make wise choices.
“Wisdom is supreme — so get wisdom. And whatever else you get, get understanding. 8Cherish her, and she will exalt you; if you embrace her, she will honor you.” —Proverbs 4:7-8
God gave us a book called Proverbs to help us understand the value of wisdom and how to attain it.
- The theme of Proverbs is wisdom. It covers all the basic areas of life.
- The main writer of Proverbs is Solomon. He was the wisest person to ever live.
- The nature of Proverbs is pithy. They are short and concise statements of penetrating truth.

YOUR SPENDING WISELY

“For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? 29Otherwise, after he has laid the foundation and cannot finish it, all the onlookers will begin to ridicule him, 30saying, ‘This man started to build and wasn’t able to finish’.” —Luke 14:28-30
“When it is in your power, don’t withhold good from the one to whom it belongs. 28Don’t say to your neighbor, “Go away! Come back later. I’ll give it tomorrow” when it is there with you.” —Proverbs 3:27-28
“The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a slave to the lender.” —Proverbs 22:7

FOR THE FUTURE

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his grandchildren, but the sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.” —Proverbs 13:22
IV.
WHAT YOU HAVE AND USE IT WELL
“Keep your life free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for he himself has said, I will never leave you or abandon you. 6Therefore, we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” —Hebrews 13:5-6
“The one who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will not get rich.” —Proverbs 21:17

BORROWING IF POSSIBLE

“If someone puts up security for a stranger, he will suffer for it, but the one who hates such agreements is protected.” —Proverbs 11:15
