Like elephants, many of us believe we are stuck in our circumstances, not realizing we are powerful enough to take control of what holds us back the most, our minds.
Elephants don’t have a strength problem, they have a bad mindset problem.
Like elephants, our memories are stronger than our actions.
The enemy works a lot like elephant owners, he convinces us we are bound.
Change can be a painful experience.
Romans 12:2, NIV
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Renewal takes a deliberate action.
Isaiah 26:3-4
3 You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
4 Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
Many times the Holy Spirit will ask us to break barriers, to go and be what we never thought possible.
It is so easy to allow our family history and past experiences to put limits on our lives.
We have to be led by who He is and what He has done, not what we feel.
2 Cor 5:6-7
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight.
2 Cor 5:16-17
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Jesus gave a new mindset at salvation, but life has a way of beating us down to make us barely hang on!
Colossians 3:1-3
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
Like a child hiding in the arms of a parent, we are hidden in the things of God!
Romans 8:5-8
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
If there is no peace or a life full of purpose, you have a mindset problem.
Hebrews 11:1-2
1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.
Romans 8:37-39
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
