Greater Than Moses
Part of The Gospel of Luke—The Promise of God Fulfilled

*Luke 9:28-36: 28 Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. 30 And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33 And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. 34 As he was saying these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him!” 36 And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.

Application to Consider
1. Sometimes it is easy to think of Jesus as something less than God. It is easier after all to relate to man then it is to God, but when we do this we miss the point of the gospel. Man broke everything, God step into creation to fix it, and gave his son who was God to achieve it. This truth is mind blowing and humbling. We need this every day of our life not just the day we accepted Jesus. Pray that God would reveal Jesus to us daily, that the truth of and identify of Jesus would not grow numb to us.
2. J*esus fulfills the Law. 613 laws to be specific.* Laws that God expected his people to keep and they could not, we could not. The truth that Jesus fulfills these laws should bring us joy, and gratitude, it should bring us to our knees in worship. Yet, if we are honest 99% of the time we do not think or celebrate Jesus fulfilling the law. Take time and thank God for this work that Jesus accomplished.
3. Sometimes we treat Jesus more like a friend then our Lord and Savior. In what ways does this appear in your life? Do an honest evaluation and being this to God. If we believe Jesus is our Lord and Savior, that Jesus is God is should impact and influence our entire life. We all fall short, ask God to help shape you to be more like Jesus every day, helping your life to reflect the belief you confess, and identify steps you can take to begin or continue that process.
