How to Reduce Conflict with Others

1. PRIDE is never a good guide.

Philippians 2:3 - Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

Selfish ambition: it‘s all about MY needs and MY wants.

James 3:16 - Wherever there’s jealousy or selfish ambition, you will find confusion and every other kind of evil.

• Vain conceit: I’M right and YOU’RE wrong.

Philippians 2:3 - Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast… GNT

* Galatians 5:19-21* - But when you follow your own wrong inclinations, your lives will produce these evil results: impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, 20 idolatry, spiritism (that is, encouraging the activity of demons), hatred and fighting, jealousy and anger, constant effort to get the best for yourself, complaints and criticisms, the feeling that everyone else is wrong except those in your own little groupand there will be wrong doctrine, 21 envy, murder, drunkenness, wild parties, and all that sort of thing. 2. Learn the habit of ACTING like Jesus.

* Philippians 2:5* - Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus…

Acting like Jesus means…

• I don’t demand what I think I DESERVE.

Philippians 2:6 - Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped…

• I look for ways that I can SERVE.

Philippians 2:7 - …but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

• Do what’s right even when it’s PAINFUL.

Philippians 2:8 - And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!

The Reward

Philippians 2:9-11 - Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
