Will We Know Our Friends And Family In Heaven?

2 Samuel 12:23 But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.”

In Luke 16:19-31, Abraham, Lazarus, and the rich man were all

after death.

Matthew 17:3–4 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”

The Bible

seem to indicate that we will be recognizable after death.

1 John 3:2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

The Bible also declares that when we arrive in heaven, we will __be like __Jesus.

1 Corinthians 15:47–49 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

Many people recognized Jesus after His resurrection..
(John 20:16, 20; 21:12; 1 Corinthians 15:4-7).

What about those you never met?

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

Will We Married In Heaven?

Matthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

The biggest reason, there will be no marriage in heaven simply because there will be

for it.

Genesis 2:18 It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.

Revelation 7:9–10 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

There will be no

in Heaven.

Do Our Loved Ones Look Down on Us from Heaven?

Hebrews 12:1–2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

The “witnesses” are the

of faith - Hebrews 11.

The Bible doesn’t specifically say that people in heaven

look down on us. However, it is that they can or do as people in heaven are preoccupied with other things.

What Will We Be Doing in Heaven?

Matthew 4:10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “ ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’ ”

Revelation 22:3–4 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

*Best summed up with the following. *

Romans 11:34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?”

Colossians 2:2–3 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Isaiah 57:15 For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Ephesians 3:18–19 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

I believe Heaven will be a place of infinite

.

Bottom Line

While heaven was and is prepared for us, it’s not

us.

What I do know is that I need to

where it belongs.

Hebrews 12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
