
THE GREAT SUSTAINER
Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. —Psalms 55:22
HE SUSTAINS US THROUGH THE EXPERIENCE OF REDEMPTION
REDEMPTION DEFINED:
The action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil.
The action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt.
To buy back, to repurchase.
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel:“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;I have called you by your name;You are Mine. —Isaiah 43:1
In Him we have redemption through
His blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of His grace. —Ephesians 1:7
THE SUSTAINMENT OF REDEMPTION THROUGH WHO HE IS
1. The sustainment of redemption through Who He is … Christ our redeemer.
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” —Isaiah 61:1
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. —Luke 4:18 - 20
2. The sustainment of redemption through Who He is … The Holy Spirit.
2b To comfort all who mourn,
3 To console those who mourn in Zion… —Isaiah 61:2b - 3aNevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. —John 16:7
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. —John 14:26
3. The sustainment of redemption through the greatest transaction of love ever … God our Father.
To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness… —Isaiah 61:3
4. The sustainment that comes through redemption that has made us His righteousness.
That they may be called trees of righteousness,The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. —Isaiah 61:3

3 Who forgives all your iniquities,Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. —Psalms 103:1 - 5For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him. —2 Corinthians 5:21
5. The sustainment that comes through the purpose of redemption.
And they shall rebuild the old ruins,they shall raise up the former desolations,and they shall repair the ruined cities,the desolations of many generations. —Isaiah 61:4
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
