Blessed: BECOMING like Jesus
January 19 & 22, 2023

“Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

Matthew 5:1-2 (ESV)

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Matthew 5:7 (ESV)

BECOMING like Jesus

And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not
sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 9:10-13 (ESV)

To live IN that mercy, we live FROM that mercy.

*Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. *

Matthew 5:8 (ESV)

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

Psalm 24:3-6 (ESV)

When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Matthew 8:1-3 (ESV)
