John tells us that God has lavished his love on us. How have you seen God’s love displayed in your life? How does living in God’s love change our lives? What is the promise to us in this passage for when Christ appears? How does this hope help us live differently now?

Read 1 John 3:4-10
John presents two families in these verses, the Family of God and the Family of the Devil. What are the characteristics of each? How does Jesus destroy the devil’s work? When John talks about continuing in sin, he is talking about being identified by sin. How have you seen Jesus transform your identity as you have followed after him? What would you say to your younger self about finding freedom from sin? How can we help other find their identity in Jesus?
