Dysfunction:
“impaired or abnormal functioning”
“abnormal or unhealthy interpersonal behavior or interaction within a group”

Function:
“a procedure or process which converts input to output in some way”

Input —>Relationship (function)—> Output

Junction:
“a place or point of meeting”

Your brain is the most powerful “function junction” ever created.

The brain receives information or experiences (inputs), processes the information (function), and creates a response (outputs).

Mindset:
“Mind-sets are those collection of beliefs and thoughts that make up the mental attitude, inclination, habit or disposition that predetermines a person’s interpretations and responses to events, circumstances and situations.”

Your mindset shapes your attitude and your attitude reinforces your mindset.

When our mindset is not in alignment with the mind of Christ, dysfunction takes over.

Both positive and negative inputs can yield dysfunctional outputs if improperly processed.

Pride in our thinking keeps us from addressing our dysfunctional mindset.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Romans 12:2-3

We often allow God to renew our spirit, but fail to allow him to renew our mind.
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Colossians 3:1-2

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-9

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.
Ephesians 4:17-25 (ESV)
