UNDERSTANDING THE BLESSING
Numbers 6:22–27 (NKJV) 22 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: 24 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’27 “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”
Genesis 12:1–3 (NLT) “The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
• “All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
• NKJV… “And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 12:3 (AMPC) “And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves].”
Galatians 3:13–14 (NLT) But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” 14 Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:9 (NLT) says.. “So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.”
Ephesians 1:3 (NLT) God… “… has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.”
FIRST: HOW CAN WE BE BLESSED?
• By placing our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior!
SECOND: WHAT IS THE BLESSING OF GOD?
Verse 14… Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.
What is this blessing?…
• Being justified before God by faith alone and not by works…
Galatians 3:8–9 (NLT) What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would make the Gentiles right in his sight because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, “All nations will be blessed through you.” 9 So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.
BOTTOM LINE = WHAT MAKES YOU SO BLESSED IS WHO YOU POSSESS!
Ephesians 1:3 (NLT) All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
Genesis 12:7 (NLT) Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants.”
Genesis 13:15 (NLT) I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession.
Genesis 17:8 (NLT) And I will give the entire land of Canaan
Genesis 26:3–4 (NLT) Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you. I hereby confirm that I will give all these lands to you and your descendants…
