Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe… —Hebrews 12:28 (NIV)

God reigns over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne. —Psalm 47:8 (NIV)

The question is not “Will you worry?” The question is “What will you do with your worry?”

1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2 He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.’” —Luke 11:1-2 (NIV)

“your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” —Matthew 6:10 (NIV)

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. —Luke 5:16 (NIV)

Jesus modeled that going to His Heavenly Father was His first response, not His last resort.

Why Does God’s Presence Help Us Overcome Worry?

1. We focus on the goodness of God instead of the bad things that could happen.

2. We crowd out worry with gratitude.

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

3. We align our attitude and our speech with the Word of God.
